abstract

this article addresses a multi-stage flowshop scheduling problem with equal number of unrelated parallel machines. the objective is to minimize the makespan for a given set of jobs in the system. this problem class is np-hard in the strong sense, so a hybrid heuristic method for sequencing and then allocating operations of jobs to machines is developed. a number of test problems are randomly generated and results obtained by proposed heuristic are compared with optimal solutions reported by the lingo 8.0 package applying the branch & bound approach. the results show that the proposed hybrid method is more efficient when the problem sizes have been increased.

bicriteria scheduling in hybrid flow shop with unrelated parallel machines

this study considers scheduling in hybrid flow shop environment with unrelated parallel machines for minimizing mean of job's tardiness and mean of job's completion times. this problem does not study in the literature, so far. flexible flow shop environment is applicable in various industries such as wire and spring manufacturing, electronic industries and production lines. after mode...

Solving the Problem of Scheduling Unrelated Parallel Machines with Limited Access to Jobs

Nowadays, by successful application of on time production concept in other concepts like production management and storage, the need to complete the processing of jobs in their delivery time is considered a key issue in industrial environments. Unrelated parallel machines scheduling is a general mood of classic problems of parallel machines. In some of the applications of unrelated parallel mac...

Finite Horizon Economic Lot and Delivery Scheduling Problem: Flexible Flow Lines with Unrelated Parallel Machines and Sequence Dependent Setups

This paper considers the economic lot and delivery scheduling problem in a two-echelon supply chains, where a single supplier produces multiple components on a flexible flow line (FFL) and delivers them directly to an assembly facility (AF). The objective is to determine a cyclic schedule that minimizes the sum of transportation, setup and inventory holding costs per unit time without shortage....

An Evaluation of Sequencing Heuristics for Flexible Flowshop Scheduling Problems with Unrelated Parallel Machines and Dual Criteria

This paper deals with the heuristic solution of flexible flowshop scheduling problems with unrelated parallel machines. A setup time is necessary before starting the processing of a job, where the setup time depends on the previous job. No preemption of jobs is allowed. As objective function, this paper considers the minimization of the positively weighted convex sum of makespan and the number ...
